Day 1
Arashiyama Bamboo Forest
An idyllic pathway filled with bamboo that reaches the sky. Enjoy a nice stroll here, or opt for the rickshaw ride.
Tenryuji Temple
A UNESCO site and major temple complex with an amazing zen garden.
Togetsukyo Bridge
Stroll across the iconic bridge that has ancient roots. It is very picturesque here, being situated next to the Katsura River and Arashiyama Mountain.
Arashiyama Monkey Park
Visit and feed monkeys that call Arashiyama Mountain home. A small park along with an observatory awaits after a small hike.
Kinkakuji Temple
See the famous golden temple that is reflected on a calm pond amidst meticulously landscaped gardens.
Kyoto Station
Finish out your day in Kyoto Station, where you can find several restaurants and modern amenities.
Day 2
Fushimi Inari
Thousands of torii gates line the paths up a mountain. Though you can trek all the way up, we recommend that you turn around near the halfway point.
Yasaka Koshindo
Along the way to Kiyomizudera, you’ll find Yasaka Koshindo. This small temple is known for it’s colorful display and photogenic nature.
Kiyomizu Temple
The route to Kiyomizu Temple is lined with famed shopping streets. On the way up, indulge in some street food or purchase some souvenirs. At the top, a stage is perched on the side of a cliff, making for some scenic views of the city and landscape.
Nishiki Market
A famous market that has stalls for street food and souvenirs. Try some specialities, like tako tamago (quail egg stuffed in octopus) or strawberry mochi.
Yasaka Shrine
As nighttime falls, visit Yasaka Shrine which lights up and is open at all hours of the day.
Gion
Sneak a glimpse of geisha that run in between establishments in Gion. This neighborhood has retained it’s traditional charm and feels like you stepped a few centuries back in time.
